EOP 06
From Players Wiki
[edit] EOP Post Mortem
Set:
- Set shop not cleaned
- Impressed by the amount that we built in two weeks
- Projectors could have been made simpler/better
- Could have done much more given another week, no time
- Perhaps more creative ways to change sets
Lights:
- Window gobos did not work
- Splotchy lights/hot spots in the wrong place
- Plot did not seem to work correctly in this space
- No communication for Saybrook
- Designers really need to experiment with lights in the Playhouse
- Maybe do side-by-side comparisons of Emphasis vs. actual outcome
- Could have been better communication over break
- Op needs to be better trained to use the light board in general
Sound:
- Lost a few days of recording time when Digi 002 stopped working
- Sound was awesome -- Gino, Sara
- Pre-show music was slightly odd
- Avoid songs with lyrics
- None of the cues were screwed up
- Gunshot sounds could be synced better
Props:
- Very good job given timeframe
- Nice job re-doing the rifle, nice orange
Costumes/Make-Up:
- Running low on makeup stock
- Needed to make a trip to the Costumer
- Property of other theaters should be kept more secure, not used during mid-weeks
Publicity:
- Designs need to be approved before or after break
- Disappointed in the turn-out for the shows
- Bio Collector not a necessary position
- Difficult to organize poster runs if in the show
- Need to look for a better t-shirt place
- Get extra t-shirts if near the pricing cut-off
- Perhaps lay out criteria for poster approval
Don't Take Sides:
- Did not have a rehearsal schedule until late
- Perhaps try to iron out the schedule before break
- Did not get final script until a week before coming back
- The director should not constantly be making changes to the show
- Stage manager should step in to tell directors not to change things after Tech Sunday
- Shows should not be accepted on the contingency that it will be rewritten
- Very long set changes, large amount of set
- Need to let designers, stage managers do their job (set changes)
Love Stories:
- Would have like to have an actual stage gun
- Very helpful assistant director
- Went over much of the audience's head, perhaps explain references in notes
- Concerns that the show was too tech heavy were overexaggerated
- Given time contraints, projectors were difficult
- Try not to run show from Windows
- Small cast was very helpful
Old Saybrook:
- Did not have any trouble with tech
- Mid-weeks were a disaster, actors need to say their lines
- Number of inexperienced actors made it hard to make progress
- Casting was difficult, guidelines not clear
Producer:
- Chain of command could be clearer, stage manager vs. assistant producer
- Send out descriptions of vague roles with request for staff
- More direct lines of communication
- Get out cast list in a timely fashion, perhaps without specific roles
- Discussion-based meetings worked for this production
Overall:
- Would be beneficial to avoid going up against freak-out, perhaps a matinee on Saturday
- Directors should attend work parties to be aware of what is going on
- Perhaps have dark day on Wednesday, final rehearsal on Thursday
- Stage crew needs to run the show during mid-weeks
- Somebody (stage manager) needs to tell cast about mid-weeks
- Perhaps create guidelines for mid-weeks
- Need to only cast individuals who have auditioned for roles vs. director's discretion
- Does head stage manager role really work? Perhaps an assistant producer instead
- Need to get more people to ask for help when they need it, find experienced people
- Perhaps create a running crew chief production role
- Too many people on comm during the show
- Perhaps try not to use Playhouse furniture in the shows, treat with care if necessary
